Interface cable is loose.
Barcode reader not
programmed for correct host
interface.
Remedy
Check system power.
Ensure power supply
is connected.
Ensure correct interface
cable is used.
Ensure all cable connections
are secure.
Ensure barcode reader is
programmed to read the
type of barcode being
scanned.
Ensure barcode is
not defaced.
Try scanning a
different barcode of
the same type.
Move barcode reader closer
to or further from barcode.
Scan appropriate host
parameter barcode (see

documentation).
Ensure all cable connections
are secure.
