Working with the lifting magnet

7.2.1
Preparing for handling
Check the condition of the lifting magnet – the magnet has to be fully functional, complete, etc.

Clean the functional surfaces of the lifting magnet and the contact surfaces for the load (remove any unwanted
■
air gaps caused by dirt).
Position the lifting magnet on the load, above the centre of gravity (material to be handled with known parame-
■
ters – see section 7.1.2).
Check the lifting capacity of the complete unit: The lifting capacity of the crane must be greater than the sum of
■
the weights of the load and the lifting magnet plus any accessories.
Check the lifting capacity of the lifting magnet in accordance with the load type (see section 7.1.4).

7.2.2
Basic operation of the lifting magnet and status display
The control buttons, together with the display panel, are located on the front cover of the lifting magnet (see fig. 10).
The control buttons are provided for actuating the basic functions of the lifting magnet.

Switching on the lifting magnet
Press and hold green ON button.

An acoustic signal sounds to indicate that the command has been received and will be executed.

The green READY indicator light on the display panel of the lifting magnet starts flashing.

The lifting magnet is activated.
