6.6   Administration via V-NET

6.6 Administration via V-NET

6.6.1 About OMEGA FLEX V-NET
V-NET is the name for a virtual network of locking media and locking devices. In this network, authorisations
are stored on the locking medium and not on the locking device. The communication between the locking
devices and locking media also enables additional information to be exchanged, e.g. whether a locking
medium should be blocked.
Example: An employee loses their locking medium. A replacement medium is issued to them that can be
used immediately. With every authentication on locking devices, the replacement medium transmits the
information that the lost predecessor medium must be blocked if an attempt is made to use it on a
locking device to gain access.
6.6.2 Principle of administration via V-NET
In V-NET, authorisations and other settings are stored on the locking medium and not on the locking device.
Communication between the locking media and the OMEGA Client can be established in two ways:
Without Update-Terminals
Without Update-Terminals, communication between locking media and the
OMEGA Client is established solely by the Desktop-Writer.
Programming jobs created in OMEGA Client are sent to the locking media via the
Desktop-Writer.
With Update-Terminals
With Update-Terminals, communication between locking media and the OMEGA
Client can also be established using Update-Terminals.
