Caution – DO NOT disconnect the power cord from facility power or the library.
The power cord is the only means of grounding the chassis and helping to prevent
electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.
2. Connect your ESD wrist grounding strap to the closest grounding point on the
frame of the library.
3. Open the drive access door.
4. Remove the tape drive tray assembly from the library. See "Tape Drive Interface
PWA" on page 131 for removal instructions.
5. Remove the screws that secure the tape drive to the mounting plate.
6. Disconnect the 3- and 4-pin connectors coming from the stepper motor assembly
to the tape drive interface PWA.
7. Remove the screws that secure the tape drive interface PWA to the PWA mounting
bracket.
8. From the left side of the tape drive, remove the screws that secure the tape drive
interface PWA mounting bracket
9. Remove the bracket.
10. Remove the stepper motor assembly from the drive. See "Tape Drive Stepper
Motor Assembly" on page 133 for removal instructions.

To Replace a Tape Drive

Follow the removal instructions in reverse order.

To Make Adjustments Required After Replacement

Auto calibrate drives.
