Local Operator Panel This guide is intended to show operators and service representatives how to use the StorageTek StreamLine SL500 modular library system local operator panel. The touch screen panel is available as an optional feature for the library. The screens might look slightly different depending on your firmware level. Use the ? (help) icon as required.
Operator Panel Login Screens Operator Panel Login Screens Touch the splash screen to make the Operator Panel Login screen appear. The title bar at the top of the screen has the help icon (?) on the left, the screen title at the center, and the Back button on the right to take you back to the splash screen.

Operator Panel Login Screens Note – The first time the screen appears, the user field is blank. After someone has logged in, the system remembers the last user and sets it as the default. If you are not logging in for the first time: Type your current password, then touch the Enter button.

Operator Panel Login Screens 5. Enter the password. If the password has never been set, a dialog box appears and tells you to set the initial password and verify it. 6. Type your new password, then touch the ENTER button. The password must be between 4 and 9 numbers.
Change Password Screen Change Password Screen The Password button on the Home screen sends you to a screen where you can change your password. The password must be between 4 and 9 numbers. You can also use the * and # characters.

Home Screen Home Screen The Home screen appears after you login. It displays a picture of the library modules and buttons that allow you to get to the other sections. The title bar on the top of the screen has the help icon (?) on the left, the screen title on the center, and the Logout button on the right to take you back to the splash screen.
Details Screens Details Screens The Details screens provide information about the library, drives, cartridges, and slot contents. Select the desired tab along the top of the screen: Status, Properties or Statistics. The menu and corresponding icons on the left edge change with the tab selected.
Details Screens Details Library Screens The following screens display an example of what could appear when you touch the library icon or corresponding words and each tab. The Status button displays the library's functionality status, drive and robot initialization status, number of cleaning cartridges, and number of occupied slots. The Properties button displays the main properties of the library.

Details Screens Library Set Date/Time Button The Set Date/Time button brings up the screens for the User: Service to set the date and time for the library. To change the month, touch the box that displays the month to cycle through the months. To change the time, day of the month or the year, touch the box that displays the value that you want to change and a screen is displayed that allows you to enter the new value.

Details Screens Library Configure Button The Configure button brings up a screen that shows the configuration of the Library interface. For SCSI interface libraries, the SCSI ID can be changed. For Fibre interface libraries, the port may be enabled or disabled, and hard addressing may be enabled or disabled.

Details Screens Details Drive Screens The following screens display an example of what could appear when you touch the drive icon or corresponding words and each tab. You can touch the icon to see the properties for that drive. The Up or Down Arrow buttons display other drives. The Reboot button allows you to reboot the selected drive.

Details Screens The Configure button brings up a screen that shows the configuration of the specified tape drive. For SCSI interface drives, the SCSI ID can be changed. For Fibre interface drives, the ports may be enabled or disabled, and hard addressing may be enabled or disabled.

Details Screens Use the keypad to edit the Loop ID number. The Clear key clears the current number and lets you enter a new one. The Del key is used to backspace. The Save key returns to the previous screen with the new value shown and options to Save or Cancel the changes.

Details Screens The following screens provide cleaning cartridge information. The Warning Threshold is the number of times a cleaning cartridge can be used before a warning message appears. Touch the warning threshold box to bring up the Set Warning Threshold screen.

Details Screens Details Module Map The module map displays a graphical picture of the contents of the module with the slots broken into sections and each slot showing whether it is full or empty. Touch on one of the four module section buttons or the CAP button to display the details of the contents of that section.
Details Screens Details Slot Contents The slot contents screen displays the detailed contents, including cartridge labels, of the selected section of a module. By touching the 4-row by 4-column upper left wall section button of the previous screen, the following screen appears. You can touch a cartridge label, and the Move Cartridge screen appears, displaying the selected cartridge’s address filled in for the source address.

Details Screens The following screen appears for the IP Address. The Clear key deletes the current address and lets you enter a new one. Use the keypad to enter the numeric address. The “.” separator is the key below the 9 key. Use the Del key if you need to delete an entry.
Details Screens Details Operator Panel Properties Screens The following screen displays the version of the operator panel firmware. Touch the Brightness button to go to the screen where you can adjust the brightness of the screens. Touch the Touch Pad button to go to the screen where you can make other adjustments to the screens.

Details Screens After you touch the Brightness button, use the arrow buttons to make the screen lighter or darker. The Up Arrow brightens the screen, reducing contrast. The Down Arrow darkens the screen, increasing contrast. After you touch the Touch Pad button, touch the screen with your fingernail just outside of the rectangle in the center.
Tools Screens Tools Screens The Tools section is not available to User: Status. The Tools screens provides the following options: Exerciser performs random cartridge moves. Search Cartridge finds a cartridge by its label (VOLID). Move Cartridge moves cartridges within the library. Empty Hand moves a cartridge from the robot hand.
Tools Screens Tools Exercise Library Screen Exercise Library Initiates a library diagnostic or demonstration exercise. Enter the number of loops you wish the library to run. Each loop is a random move of a cartridge from one slot to another and back to its original slot. Touch the Start key to start the moves.
Tools Screens Tools Search Cartridge Screen Search Cartridge finds a cartridge by its label or volume ID (VOLID). Enter the VOLID using the keypad. The keypad operates like a cell phone keypad: touch a key multiple times to cycle through the number and associated letters. The cursor stays under that character until you pause.
Tools Screens Tools Move Cartridge Screen Move Cartridge moves a cartridge within the library. Enter the source and destination addresses: Choose the Type: Slot, Drive, or CAP. Choose the Module, Row, and Column. The choices in the address boxes are limited by the Type choice.

Tools Screens Tools Empty Hand Screen Empty Hand moves a cartridge out of the robot hand when a problem prevents a move from completing. Enter the destination address in module, row, column format. Touch the Move button to start the move. Touch the Cancel button to cancel the move.

Tools Screens Tools Clean Drive Screen Clean Drive instructs the robot to get a cleaning cartridge and insert it into the designated drive. You can select the cleaning cartridge by touching the Label box. Choose Any to let the library choose a compatible cleaning cartridge, or toggle to select a specific drive- compatible cleaning cartridge.
