Port Forwarding
For devices located behind a router, port forwarding allows the router to pass
data coming in over a specific port to a specific device. By setting the port
forwarding parameters, you tell the router which device to send the data
coming in over a particular port to.
For example, if the CN9000/CN9600/CN9900/CN9950 connected to a
particular router has an IP address of 192.168.1.180, you would log into your
router's setup program and access the Port Forwarding (sometimes referred to
as Virtual Server) configuration page. You would then specify 192.168.1.180
for the IP address and the port number you want opened for it (9000 for internet
access, for example).
Since configuration setup can vary somewhat for each brand of router, refer to
the router's User Manual for specific information on configuring port
forwarding for it.
