Most of the parts replacement procedures in this chapter require that you
first remove the inner probe assembly.
Ensure that power is removed from both the sensor and the control
unit and allow the sensor to cool for at least one hour. Remove the
insitu probe cover by twisting it off.
Remove the wires from the upper terminal strip on the sensor board
(A through D) as well as J, M, N, R, and S. Remove the chassis ground
wire from the top right corner of the terminal box.
Using a 7/16" nut driver, remove the two 1/4-20 nuts as well as the
locking star washers that hold the positioning bracket to the retaining
brackets. This will also free the chassis ground wire.
Using a 11/32" nut driver, remove the 8-32 kep nut. Remove the two
8-32 screws with attached split lock washers using a flat blade screw-
driver for the screws.
Remove the positioning bracket. To do this, you will first have to
slightly pull out the probe handle.
The inner probe assembly will remain hot even though the power has
been removed from the system. Allow at least one hour for the probe to
cool and then use protective gloves when removing the probe.
Slide the inner probe assembly out of the outer protective tube by
pulling on its handle.
If the process is under pressure, place a blind plate and gasket over the flange hole.
These are included in the insitu accessory kit.
-
Take the blind plate and gasket and place them over the 8-32 stud
on top of the flange hole.
-
Take two 8-32 x 1/4" long screws from the insitu accessory kit and
insert them into the two remaining holes. Tighten using a flat blade
screwdriver.
-
Take the 8-32 kep nut removed in Step 4 and place it over the 8-32
stud. Using an 11/32" nut driver, tighten the kep nut.
If the inner probe assembly does not slide out freely, remove the 10-32
screw from the sheet metal plate and insert a longer screw (thumb screw
in the insitu accessory kit) into this threaded hole to force the inner probe
assembly loose. Be sure to remove this longer screw once the probe as-
sembly is loose.
