5.1
24 V support in case of line loss

5.1.1
Purpose of the function
The "24 V support in case of line loss" function is used to bring the moving masses of a mechanical sys-
tem (e.g. robot arm) in a controlled manner to a standstill in the event of a line loss. For this purpose, the
DC link of the 24 V switch-mode power supply unit is coupled to the DC links of the servo amplifiers (DC
Link +/-). By braking a drive axis regenerative energy is created which charges the DC link circuits of the
servo amplifiers. With this additional energy the 24 V power supply of the control system can be main-
tained for a longer period.
5.1.2
Functional description
Coupling takes place immediately after precharging. For trouble-free operation, the mains supply to the
switched-mode power supply (X7) is then to be disconnected (see „Fig. 3.15 Connection example for
model with integrated switch-mode PSU (schematic diagram)" on page 54, contact 3.2). For this pur-
pose the parameter 270-0 in the firmware is to be set to the value "16".
NOTE:
The total power drawn from the internal 24 V power supply unit must not exceed Pv = 240 W max. for
this operating case!
