6-1. Upgrading the PCS-UC150

Service engineers should use the following procedure to upgrade the PCS-UC150. See Section 6-2,
"Upgrading the PCS-UC150 When Commissioning into Service" to upgrade the PCS-UC150 when it is
commissioned into service.
Releasing write-protection of the memory card
The write-protection of the memory card must be released in order to install the upgrade kit.
Move the WRITE PROTECT switch of the memory card to the RELEASE (write-enabled) position using
the tip of a ballpoint pen or the like. Unless this protection is released, upgrading is not possible.
Installing the upgrade kit
1. Turn off the main power of the compact conference package and insert the memory card into the slot.
(Press the eject button on the side of the slot to eject the memory card.)
2. While the memory card is inserted in the slot, turn on the main power of the compact conference
package.
n
The PCS-1500/1500P becomes ready to operate after about two minutes. Do not turn off the main
power during this period.
3. Press the MENU button of the remote control unit and select INFORMATION on the display.
Confirm that the PCS-UC150 has been upgraded using the software option.
4. Turn off the main power of the compact conference package and remove the memory card from the slot.
5. Attach the serial number label that was supplied with the PCS-UC150, to the flat blank space on the
bottom panel of the compact conference package.
n
A memory card that is marketed as a merchandise, can only be used once for installation.

6-2. Upgrading the PCS-UC150 When Commissioning into Service

If a serial number label is already stuck to the bottom panel of the PCS-1500/1500P, it indicates that the
software has been legally installed on the PCS-UC150. You can upgrade a PCS-UC150 on which the
software has been legally installed using the tool memory card (J-6389-740-A). The installation proce-
dure is the same as what is described in Section 6-1.
However, if there is no serial number label, do not upgrade the PCS-UC150 unless other evidence is
presented to prove that the software has been purchased legally.
m
. The number of times the upgrade kit can be installed is limited for every memory card.
. The remaining numbers that the memory card can be used for upgrading, can be confirmed by entering
the command as follows.
After the main power of the PCS-1500/1500P is turned on, insert the tool memory card into the slot,
enter the command "dir" and press the [Enter] key.
The number of lines of pcs-1500.flg indicates the remaining numbers that the memory card can be used
for upgrading.
. Do not use the upgrade kit that is available on market as a merchandise.
Be sure to use the service-use memory card supplied to upgrade the system during repair.
