(2) Select [05 ADJUSTMENT MODE]. Change the values for code [7630] to adjust the threshold value
in the Auto Color mode.
• As the setting value is increased, the original will be more likely to be recognized as black-and-
white.
On the other hand, if the value is decreased, it will be more likely to be recognized as full color.

• Set the value in increments of approximately 20, while checking the copy image until the optimum
value is obtained.
(3) Select [05 ADJUSTMENT MODE] and change the setting value for the code [7616] to adjust the
image area to be used for the judgment for the Auto Color mode.
• If the judgment of an original whose image is located only on the edge of the paper has not been
carried out as desired, arrange the threshold by setting a smaller value in order to make the
judgment area wider.
• Adjust the code which corresponds to the Image Repeat setting.

• The setting values of 24 steps correspond to 1 mm of the image area.
• If too small a value is set, stains on the edge of the original may be judged as images and thus the
desired result may not be obtained.
 Caution after the adjustment
• When a non-standard sized original is copied, an area outside the original (or the original cover) may
also be scanned. This may prevent the original size from being accurately detected. If the original
cover is soiled, the type of original cannot be accurately detected. Therefore, instruct the users to
clean the original cover on a routine basis (once a week).
• After the threshold in the Auto Color mode is adjusted, based on a particular type of original, other
types of original may not be correctly detected. Therefore, carefully perform the adjustment, while
checking whether any type of original is correctly detected.
• Note that arranging the image area to be used for the judgment also adjusts that for the Auto color in
network scanning.
