8.2. Assembly of the Large Roll Paper Holder Unit (RUH-T500, Optional)

The method of assembly depends on whether the printer and optional large diameter roll paper holder unit
(RHUT500) is used in the horizontal layout (see section 7.2.1) or the vertical layout (see section 7.2.2).
Assemble these correctly by the following directions below.
8.2.1.

Horizontal Type Layout Assembly

Procedure (1) Assembling the Frame
Join the paper-feed frames (2 pcs.), spring base and frame stays (2 pcs.) using the M3 screws (6
pcs.).
See Fig. 8.2.1.A to place each of the parts in their correct positions.
Procedure (2) Assembling the Friction Spring
See Fig. 8.2.1.B. to fasten the friction springs (2 pcs.) to the spring base using M3 screws (4 pcs.).
It is necessary to adjust the mounting position of the friction spring for the width of the paper to be
used. For details see section 8.4 Mounting the Friction Spring.
Procedure (3) Assembling the Bushing Unit
See Fig. 8.2.1.C to fasten the bushing and bushing unit to the left and right frames. However, the
bushing and bushing unit (including the mounting screws, and mounting nuts) are not included the
optional large diameter roll paper holder unit (RHUT500) so use the parts mounted on the printer.
There are several holes in the left and right frames so users can select a desired position for the
roll paper. Fasten correctly to the positions shown in Fig. 8.2.1.C.
Procedure (4) Assembling the Near-end Sensor Unit
See Fig. 8.2.1D. to mount the near-end sensor unit.
However, the near-end sensor unit (including the mounting screws) is not included in the optional
large diameter roll paper holder unit (RHUT500) so use the parts mounted on the printer.
See section 8.5 for details on adjusting the position of the near-end sensor.
Procedure (5) Wiring
The cable coming out from the near-end sensor unit should be clamp back so that it does not inter-
fere with the roll paper.
Also, when wiring the cable, adequately protect the material from the sharp edges of the frames.
Fig. 8.2.1.E. shows the recommended cable path and clamping position.
8.2.2.

Vertical Type Layout Assembly

Procedure (1) Assembling the Frame
Join the paper-feed frames (2 pcs.) and frame stays (2 pcs.) using the M3 screws (4 pcs.).
See Fig. 8.2.2.A to place each of the parts in their correct positions.
The spring base is not necessary for the vertical layout assembly. However, the friction spring must
be fastened to the user side frame, so see section 8.4 Fastening the Friction Spring to assemble
this correctly.
Procedure (2) Assembling the Bushing Unit
See Fig. 8.2.2.C to fasten the bushing and bushing unit to the left and right frames. However, the
bushing and bushing unit (including the mounting screws, and mounting nuts) do not include the
optional large diameter roll paper holder unit (RHUT500) so use the parts mounted on the printer.
There are several holes in the left and right frames so users can select a desired position for the
roll paper. Fasten correctly to the positions shown in Fig. 8.2.2.B.
Procedure (3) Assembling the Near-end Sensor Unit
See Fig. 8.2.2.C. to mount the near-end sensor unit. However, the near-end sensor unit (includ-
ing the mounting screws) is not included in the optional large diameter roll paper holder unit
(RHUT500) so use the parts mounted on the printer. See section 8.5 for details on adjusting the
position of the near-end sensor.
