9.3. Precautions for Designing

(1) If the positional relationship of the printer and the roll paper holder mounting is poor, paper can
skew, the ends of the paper become creased or the paper jam. For that reason, be very careful
in how the roll paper is supplied.
(2) Depending on the conditions of the roll paper that you intend to use, there are cases in which
the paper feed performance of the printer can be reduced.
Set the roll paper as shown in the following procedures.
(3) Design the out cover so that paper transport is unobstructed at the paper discharge outlet.
(4) Determine the layout of the cable from the printer unit so that no unnecessary load is applied to
them.
Also, ensure that cable insulating covering is not damaged by the edges of the printer unit or
the case.
(5) This printer has metal plating in some parts. These parts may experience rusting, but that will
not affect the printer's performance.
(6) Design for gaps between the case and the printer or the optional large diameter roll
paper holder (RHU-T500) for areas other than where attached.
(7) To issue vouchers on models not equipped with the TUP542 (model without a presenter), it is
necessary to design the paper discharge guide for the paper discharge outlet of the
mechanism. Fig. 9.3 shows a sample setup of the paper discharge guide. Always refer to this
to setup the paper discharge guide to operate the printer.
(8) Also consider measures for static electricity in the paper path. To cut and drop receipts to issue
vouchers, and the printer is run without measures for static electricity, the cut vouchers will
stick to the guide in the paper feed path and the metal frame of the mechanism unit causing
paper jams. Special care should be given to the arrangement of the metal guide in the paper
feed path.
(9) When designing the printer frame (including optional units and roll paper and the like), ensure
a gap of around 10 mm between the printer and the frame. However, the gap between the
paper discharge guide disposed in the paper discharge unit and the printer should have the
value provided in a different section.
(10) The printer unit and optional parts were designed for conditions of a level setup.
If the printer is used when setup not on a level surface, paper conveyance problems and paper
jams will occur.
Always design by observing the precautions outlined in this manual.
(11) If the printing or paper feed are temporarily terminated, paper feeding may be disrupted in
several dot lines when starting printing, when data is input and printing is started.
This particularly affects printing bit images.
