7. USAGE EXAMPLE (LAYOUT EXAMPLE)

7.1. Control Board Layout

This unit is mounted with the control board (PCB chassis 1) shown in Fig. 4.1.2 at the time of shipment. It is pos-
sible, however, to change the position of the control board according to the conditions of use.
Notes:
1.
Changes to the control board layout are to be done by the user.
2.
Be careful when laying out the cables so that wires are not broken.
Also, if necessary, use a protective tube or a wire-bundling band to protect the cable.
7.1.1.
Control Board Layout 1
(1) The control board (card chassis) can be arranged on the unit frame side.
(2) Fig. 7.1.1 on the separate sheet shows an external drawing of that arrangement.
Notes:
1.
Be aware that the mechanism mounting base chassis cannot be rotated with this layout.
7.1.2.
Control Board Layout 2
(1) Be aware that arranging the control board (card chassis) on the printer side and the direction of
how the interface (optional part) is facing cannot be changed.
(2) Fig. 7.1.2 on the separate sheet shows an external drawing of that arrangement.

7.2. Layout of the Large Roll Paper Holder Unit (RUH-T500, Optional)

(1) Note that the large roll diameters are provided below when the optional large diameter roll
paper holder unit (RHU-T500) is used.
(2) To use the optional large diameter roll paper holder unit (RHU-500) in a horizontal layout,
purchase the optional damper roller B unit (DRU-T500B). Remove the damper roller A unit
from the printer and mount the optional damper roller B unit.
Refer to the manual provided with the damper roller B unit (DRU-T500B) for mounting
methods.
(3) Check the actual layout and the media that will be used to verify that they will work on your
printer.
(4) Fig. 7.2. shows an external view of use of the large diameter roll paper holder (RHU-T500).
(5) Always connect the optional large diameter roll paper holder unit (RHU-T500) to the TUP500
frame.
Notes:
1.
Depending on the layout of the optional large diameter roll paper holder unit (RHU-T500),
the maximum roll paper external diameter that is supported may vary. Contact us if you
have questions relating to layout.
2.
Depending on the diameter of the roll paper used, and the layout, the optional large diam-
eter roll paper holder unit (RHU-T500) assembly method will vary.
3.
The external drawing of Fig. 7.2 is an example of the assembly. Be careful because there
are parts that are not included in a portion of the optional large diameter roll paper holder
unit (RHU-T500).
4.
If the printer I used when setup outside of the recommended layout, paper conveyance
problems will occur and paper jams will occur.
5.
When using the printer outside of the recommended layout, printer performance some-
times cannot be guaranteed. Design your layout to observe the layout precautions as
outlined in this manual.
6.
To use a different layout that the one recommended, contact Star Micronics.
