9.5. Precautions Concerning Safety

To use this printer safely, you must carefully observe the contents described in the specifications manual and
the following precautions.
STAR accepts absolutely no responsibility for any fires or damages caused by any other type of use of the ap-
paratus.
(1)
Immediately after or while printing, the area around the thermal head is extremely hot and
can cause burns. Absolutely do not touch it with your bare hands.
(2)
Do not touch the gears or rotating parts while the printer is operating.
(3)
Be very careful because there is the possibility of injury by handling the edges of the printer
mechanism (particularly the metal parts).

When performing maintenance on the printer, always unplug the power from its outlet before
starting your work.
(6)
Absolutely never apply a voltage that exceeds the maximum rating to the power connector.
(7)
The environment for use must be within the ranges specified in the environment
specifications.
(8)
Do not drop foreign matter with electrical conductivity, such as paper clips, onto the control
board.
(9)
Do not disassemble or modify the units.
(10)
Absolutely never place the printer in an unstable location.
(11)
Never place the printer in a highly humid or dusty environment because there is the danger
of printer failure, fire or electrical shocks.
(12)
Never place objects or sit on the printer.
(13)
When not using the printer for an extended period of time, always unplug it for safety.
(14)
When the mechanism unit and presenter unit are rotating (when open), be careful not to
allow your fingers or hands to get caught in the rotating parts.

9.6. Voluntary Control for Electromagnetic Interference

This printer is a class A information technology device based on the standards of the Voluntary
Control Council for Interference by Information Technology Equipment (VCCI).
There is the possibility that using this printer in a home environment can cause electromagnetic
interference.
In such cases, the user may be required to take the appropriate steps to remedy the situation.

The yellow caution seal on the top of the thermal mechanism module
indicates that the thermal head and the area around it are extremely hot and
have the danger of causing a fire while printing or immediately thereafter,
and that the auto-cutter blade is extremely dangerous.
