Appendix C: Environmental Control System Gas
Regulator Details
If you are using the optional environmental control system, you must provide the gas supplies,
along with the pressure regulators required to connect the instrument to the gas supply.
Unlike other imaging systems from Molecular Devices, the ImageXpress Pico system allows
independent control of both CO
three separate gas supplies to the system. The connections required to connect the
instrument are dependent on whether the gas is supplied from a compressed gas cylinder, a
house air supply, or an air compressor. The ImageXpress Pico system can use the following
gases:
CO
2
N
, which can be supplied from gas cylinders or a lab gas line.
2
Compressed air, which can be supplied from a gas cylinder, a lab gas line, or an oil-free air
pump or compressor.
In all cases, the gases must be oil-free and at least 99% pure.
Note:
5063666 K
2
, which is typically supplied from a gas cylinder.
All applications of the environmental control system require sources of compressed
air and CO
. These make it possible to enrich the CO
2
ambient levels.
An N
source is required for hypoxia experiments, where O
2
depleted to sub-ambient levels. If you are planning on performing hypoxia
experiments, all three gases—compressed air, CO
and O
levels. As a result, you may need to connect up to
2
gas environment above

levels are to be
2
and N
—are required.
