Getting started
Device check
Prerequisites:
The device has been prepared (see "Cleaning, Dis-
infection and Sterilization" on page 207) and as-
sembled ready for operation (see "Assembly"
on page 221).
The gas supply and power supply must be con-
nected.
WARNING
Risk of explosion, fire
If an oxygen leak is suspected within or near
the anesthesia machine, do not initiate opera-
tion.
Disconnect all oxygen supplies and contact a
trained service technician.
CAUTION
Risk of inadvertent movement
If not properly secured, the device may move in-
advertently during operation.
Apply the brakes on the device to ensure it cannot
be moved accidentally.
Power on

1 Switch on Primus: press the system power
NOTE
If all LEDs do not light up upon initialization, con-
tact DrägerService.
The initial screen appears after about 20 seconds.
Primus now loads its software and tests its internal
memory.
Check List
The Check List is displayed after about
35 seconds.
The test steps to be performed are grouped in five
categories:

(A), an acoustic tone sounds.
After approx. 15 seconds all LEDs and the loud-
speaker are tested by Primus.
