Chapter 7: Using the Fishfinder

Using VRMs

PRESENTATION
You can use a Variable Range Marker (VRM) to determine the depth and distance-
behind-boat of an object. These markers consist of a horizontal (depth) line and a
vertical (distance-behind-boat) line; each of which are marked with the appropriate
measurement and are controlled individually.
To switch on and position the VRM:
1. Press PRESENTATION.
2. If necessary press SCROLL and toggle to PAUSE. Pausing the display will make it
easier to position the VRM over an object.
3. Press VRM.
4. Toggle to VRM ON. The RANGE soft key is highlighted.
5. To indicate the distance-behind-boat, use the rotary control to move the range
marker over the required object. The distance is indicated both at the top of the
marker and on the RANGE soft key. To return the marker to its previous position,
press CANCEL.
6. Press OK to save the range marker setting.
7. Press DEPTH. The DEPTH soft key is highlighted.
8. To indicate the depth, use the rotary control to move the depth marker. over the
required object. The depth is indicated both on the right of the marker and on the
DEPTH soft key. To return the marker to its previous position, press CANCEL.
9. Press OK to save the depth marker setting.
10. Press OK or CANCEL to return to the Presentation soft keys.

VRM
You can also use the rotary end push to accept an adjustment and toggle
control to the other marker.
VRMs set up in Fishfinder are unrelated to those set up in Radar.
