The module 767-5203 allows the user to connect devices with an RS-232, RS-422
or RS-485 interface. In addition, two signal channels each can be parameterized as
digital outputs or outputs on two connections. In this way, up to four digital
sensors or actuators can be connected to both control solenoid valves, contactors,
etc. and to evaluate sensors, proximity switches, etc.
The properties (e.g. filter times) of all signal channels of the module can be
parameterized independently: depending on fieldbus, via the device description
file (e.g. GSD, GSDML, etc.) of a fieldbus or independent of the fieldbus, via an
FDT/DTM frame application such as WAGOframe.
The module does not support any higher protocol levels. All data is transferred
transparently to the connected fieldbus master. A CODESYS function block and a
function block for Siemens S7 are available to make using the module easier.
With the 4096-byte reception buffer, the serial interface supports high
transmission rates between module and connected device independent of the
speed of the fieldbus. The 4096-byte output buffer provides fast transmission of
larger data strings.
The module works independent of the fieldbus used in full-duplex or half-duplex
mode at up to 115200 baud depending on the configuration.
The default operating mode is RS-485 half-duplex. The default data transmission
rate is 9600 baud. 1 start bit, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit are send. There is no parity
generation and dataflow control.
As required, the module can be reconfigured in wide ranges:
Operating mode: RS-232 or RS-422/RS-485
Baud rate: 300 - 115200
Data bits: 7 or 8
Stop bits: 1 or 2
Parity: even / odd / none
Flow control: RTS/CTS or XOn/XOff
In RS-232 mode, the interface works in accordance with the TIA/EIA-232-F and
CCITT V.28/DIN 66259-1 standards. In RS-485/RS-422 mode, the interface
works in accordance with the TIA/EIA-485-A, DIN 66259 standards. Bit
transmission is in accordance with 8482/DIN 66259-4.
The positive switching digital inputs have a characteristic in accordance with
IEC61131-2, Type 2. They have extensive parameterization options such as filter
times or signal inversion.
