Ensure that you have disconnected any cables or wires attached to the PTX1000 (see
Fiber-Optic Cable from the PTX1000" on page
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
Either a mechanical lift or two persons to support the weight of the PTX1000. An additional person is
needed to remove the screws securing the router to the rack.
Screwdriver appropriate for your rack-mounting screws.
To remove a PTX1000 from a rack:
1. Perform one of the following steps:
Position a mechanical lift under the PTX1000. Use the screwdriver to remove the front-mounting
screws that attach the router to the rack.
Have two persons support the weight of the PTX1000 while another person uses the screwdriver
to remove the front-mounting screws that attach the router to the rack.
2. Remove the PTX1000 from the rack.
3. Use the screwdriver to remove the mounting screws that attach the rear-mounting blades to the rear
of the rack.
4. Place the removed screws and rear-mounting blades in a labeled bag. You will need them when you
reinstall the chassis.
5. Transport the PTX1000 to your desired new location.
