Assembly and preparation

6.1

Unpacking

NOTICE
Risk of damage to the device
The device may be damaged during unpacking.
► When removing the equipment from the carton, take care not to scratch or
otherwise damage unprotected surfaces.
Open the shipping cartons and remove all packing materials. If the optional
radiometer was purchased, retain the protective case it was shipped in. The case
will be needed to ship the radiometer for calibration.
If the packaging or the device is damaged, contact an authorized DrägerService
representative.
6.2

Proper assembly

This chapter contains instructions for assembling the BiliLux with spring arm and
BiliLux with trolley. The BiliLux phototherapy light itself requires no assembly.
WARNING
Risk of injury or death
If the device is assembled incorrectly or parts are not reinstalled after cleaning or
service, the essential performance and/or basic safety of the device may be
compromised.
► Perform a functional check of the device to verify proper assembly.
WARNING
Risk of injury or device damage
If the total load limits of device components and accessories are exceeded, the
essential performance and/or basic safety of the device may be compromised.
► Strictly adhere to the weight requirements of all components and accessories.
After the device is assembled and before it is placed into service, perform the
functional check procedure on page 38.
6.2.1
Special instructions for installing the BiliLux on the Caleo
incubator and Babytherm radiant warmer
If installing the BiliLux on top of the Caleo incubator hood, ensure that the incubator
is in the level position. If tilting is necessary, remove the phototherapy light from the
hood before tilting.
If installing the BiliLux on the Babytherm radiant warmer, use only the BiliLux with
optional spring arm or BiliLux with optional trolley.
