Procedure
1. Prepare the system for operation. For instructions, see "Preparing the 8335-GTB system for operation
after you remove and replace internal parts" on page 198.
2. Verify that the jumper is set to air-cooled by using the ipmitool command:
ipmitool -I lanplus -U <username> -P <password> -H <bmc ip or hostname> sensor list | grep "Water Cooled"
The value for the air-cooled jumper setting is 0x0080 for the Water Cooled status:
Water Cooled | 0x0 | discrete | 0x0080| na | na | na | na | na | na
If the value returned is 0x0180, which indicates a water-cooled setting, you must correct the jumper
setting as shown in "Replacing the system backplane in an air-cooled 8335-GTB" on page 100.
3. Set the system serial number in the system backplane.
After you replace the system backplane, you must set the system serial number in the system
backplane by using the vital product data (VPD) update tool. To download the tool, complete the
following steps:
a. Go to the IBM Support Portal website(www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/product/power/
scale-out_lc).
b. In the search field, enter your machine type and model. Then, click the correct product support
entry for your system.
c. From the Downloads list, click Scale-out LC system VPD update tool.
d. Follow the directions that are provided with the tool to update the VPD.
4. Restore the BMC network settings by completing the following steps:
