Removal and Replacement Procedures

Replace EISA and HSC Cards

Refer to Figure 10-10 and Figure 10-12.
1. Align the card in the slot card guide and slide it in.
2. Seat the card in the connector.
3. Press firmly to engage the card's edge connector in the slot.
4. Secure the card with the slot cover screw.
5. Perform steps 1 through 4 for all cards that were removed.
6. Secure the I/O card retainer bracket with two screws.
Replace Processor/Memory Card
Refer to Figure 10-7.
1. Place the Processor/Memory card into the cabinet so that the card rests on the metal rails with the
connector facing into the cabinet.
2. Pull the extractor levers on the card out away from the card.
3. Slide the Processor/Memory card into the cabinet until the connector is seated in the System/Core
I/O Board connector.
4. Close the two extractor levers on the Processor/Memory card.
5. Insert and tighten two screws to secure the card in the cabinet.
6. Connect power cables to DC converter card (Dx70/Dx80/D390 only).
Replace EMI Shielding
1. Place the EMI shielding close enough to the cabinet to attach the SCSI ribbon cable to the
Fast/Wide SCSI interface card. See Figure 10-15 part (1).
2. Insert the two upper notches of the EMI shielding into the tabs on the firewall at the top of the
cabinet. See Figure 10-15 part (2).
3. Bend the EMI shielding slightly to insert the notches at the bottom onto the tabs on the
Processor/Memory card. See Figure 10-15 part (3).
4. Attach the lower end of the SCSI ribbon cable to the hot-swap backplane.
