2. INSTALLING STANDARD AND OPTIONAL COMPONENTS
Upgrading an Existing
System with
a peE Board
Upgradin9 an existing system with a PCE board
involves Installing the PCE board, setting the
hardware
configuration
options and
running
diagnostics to make sure that the PCE is functional.
Install the PeE Board

1. Turn system power off.
2.
Disconnect the floppy disk drive cable from the
C4 circuit board in the back of the processor
unit.
3.
Remove the sheet metal board that is currently
in the fifth slot (slot C5) of the back of the
processor unit by unscrewing its thumbscrews
and gently pulling the board out of the
processor unit.
Note:
Keep this board; it will be needed for
proper air flow in the processor unit if
the PCE board is removed from the
system at a later time.
4.
Insert the PCE circuit board into slot C5. Make
sure that the sheet metal side is on the left side
and the board is lined up in the top and bottom
tracks inside the slot. Gently slide the board all
the way into the processor unit.
CAUTION
Forcing the board into the unit may damage the
connectors. If the board does not slide easily all
the way the first time, remove it and try again.
5.
Tighten thumbscrews on the board until they
are finger tight.
6.
Reconnect the floppy disk drive cable to the C4
circuit board and tighten the thumbscrews.
