2. INSTALLING STANDARD AND OPTIONAL COMPONENTS
CAUTION
If the pins on the chip are bent inward or
outward,
they
must
be
straightened
by
qualified service personnel before they can be
inserted on the MPB. Contact your Xerox service
representati ve.
3.
Li ne up the notch on the end of the socket and
the notch on the end of the IC chip.
CAUTION
If the IC chip is inserted without the notches
aligned, damage to the IC chip could result.
4. Carefully align the pins of the chip with the
holes in the socket on the printed wIring board
assembly. Make sure that each pin is properly
seated in its correspond i ng socket hoi e before
continuing.
5.
Push the IC insertion tool down until the IC chip
is firmly seated in the socket (Figure 2-12).
6.
Pull gently to remove the IC insertion tool,
taking care not to loosen the chip from the
socket.
7.
Repeat steps
1
through 6 for each chip ..
