Chapter 17: EQ
D-Show provides the following EQ features:
• A built-in EQ is available on each Input Channel and FX
Return.
• Graphic EQs are available for use on output channels.
• EQ plug-ins can be used on input and output channels.
• All channels let you insert hardware EQ processors.
Built-In EQ
D-Show provides different types of built-in EQ for Input
Channels, FX Returns, and outputs.
Input Channels Each Input Channel provides a high-pass filter
plus a built-in four-band parametric EQ. EQ can be set for dig-
ital or analog mode. In digital mode only, the four-band EQ
provides selectable Bell/Shelf shapes for the Hi and Lo bands.
Input Channel EQ can be configured as pre- or post-Dynamics
on a per-channel basis.
FX Returns Each FX Return provides a built-in two-band EQ.
FX Return EQ can be used in digital or analog mode; in digital
mode, the bands can be individually configured for Bell or
Shelf modes.
Output Busses Output busses can have a built-in Graphic EQ
assigned to them.
Stereo EQs controls as mono EQ (in other words, both sides
are linked). EQ settings are able to be stored and recalled
through D-Show Snapshots and through D-Show presets.
Plug-Ins
EQ plug-ins can be used on input and output channels. When
assigned in the plug-in racks, EQ plug-ins can be inserted on
individual mono or stereo channels or fed by D-Show busses.
EQ plug-ins can be adjusted using the dedicated EQ controls
in the ACS, using the Assignable Output Encoders, or from the
on-screen Plug-Ins page. In addition, plug-in presets can be
saved and loaded.
The EQ controls in the ACS provide a unified, consistent set
of controls for both built-in and plug-in EQ processing.
Hardware Inserts
D-Show lets you insert a hardware EQ processor and control
its routing and in/out state. Routing must be performed
on-screen. A dedicated In/Out switch for hardware inserts is
provided in each input channel strip and in the ACS.
See Chapter 18, "Hardware Inserts."

Built-In EQ Parameters

HPF
Each Input Channel provides a fourth-order high-pass filter
(HPF) with adjustable corner frequency and in/out control.
The input HPF defaults to 20 Hz, out-of-circuit.
You can adjust HPF frequency and in/out state from each in-
put strip, from the ACS, or on-screen.
Input Parametric EQ
Input Channels and FX Returns provide built-in parametric
EQ. Input Channels provide four bands: Hi, Hi-Mid, Lo-Mid,
and Lo. FX Returns provide two bands: Hi, and Lo.
Built-in EQ provides the following controls that affect all
bands of EQ on the selected channels:
EQ In
EQ In toggles the built-in EQ processor (all bands) in or out of
circuit on the selected channels. EQ In/Out can be controlled
from each input fader strip, from the ACS, or on-screen.
Analog and Digital EQ Modes
The Analog/Digital button toggles the built-in parametric EQ
between digital mode and analog mode, on a per-channel ba-
sis. Analog/digital mode switching is available on-screen.
Digital Mode A standard digital parametric EQ. Frequency
range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and gain range of 18 dB are available
on all four bands. Digital Q is expressed in Q factor terms in
the range 10 (left, a narrow band) to 0.1 (right, a wide band).
Digital Mode is the default EQ mode.
