In/Out Takes the built-in Compressor/Limiter in or out of cir-
cuit (bypass). The Compressor/Limiter can be taken in or out
of circuit using the Comp In/Out switch in the input fader
strips, using the ACS Comp/Lim In switch, or by clicking the
Comp/Lim button on-screen.
Dynamics plug-ins can be taken in/out of circuit from the
Input Channel, the ACS, and software screen.
Side-Chain Keying Provides side-chain and key listen. For de-
tails, see "Side-Chain Keys and Filters" on page 122.
Compressor/Limiter Gain Reduction Meters
Six-segment gain reduction meters for built-in dynamics are
located in each input fader strip. These provide constant dis-
play of gain reduction on all currently banked Input Chan-
nels.
10-segment gain reduction meters are provided in the ACS for
higher resolution metering of the currently selected channel
or Dynamics plug-ins.
See Chapter 13, "Metering."
Compressor/Limiter Defaults and Ranges
The following table lists the default values and ranges for the
built-in Compressor/Limiter:

Built-In Expander/Gate

One built-in Expander/Gate is available on each Input Chan-
nel. The Expander/Gate defaults to expansion, or can be
switched to a gate by setting the Ratio to its maximum setting.
Mono and stereo processing are supported.

Expander/Gate Parameters
Each Input Channel has controls for the following parame-
ters:
Threshold Increases or decreases the threshold level for the
built-in Expander/Gate. Threshold can be adjusted using En-
coder 1 on the input channel strip, the ACS Threshold en-
coder, on-screen using the Exp/Gate Threshold encoder, or by
dragging the Threshold handle in the on-screen Dynamics
Graph display.
Ratio Increases or decreases the ratio for the built-in Ex-
pander/Gate. The most extreme clockwise setting (100:1)
switches the process into Gate mode. Ratio can be adjusted us-
ing the ACS Ratio encoder, the on-screen Exp/Gate Ratio en-
coder, or by dragging the Ratio handle in the on-screen Dy-
namics Graph display.
Attack Increases or decreases the attack time for the built-in
Expander/Gate. Attack can be adjusted using the ACS Attack
encoder or the on-screen Exp/Gate Attack encoder.
Gate Hold Increases or decreases the time the built-in gate
holds. Gate hold can be adjusted using the ACS Comp Knee
encoder or the on-screen Exp/Gate Hold encoder.
Release Increases or decreases the release time for the built-in
Expander/Gate. Release can be adjusted using the ACS Release
encoder or the on-screen Exp/Gate Release encoder.
Gate Range Increases or decreases the maximum range or
depth of attenuation of the gate on that channel. Minimum
gate depth is 0 dB. Gate Range can be adjusted using the ACS
Gate Range encoder or the on-screen Exp/Gate Range en-
coder.
In/Out Takes the built-in Expander/Gate in or out of circuit
(bypass). The Expander/Gate can be taken in or out of circuit
using the Gate In/Out switch in the input fader strips, using
the ACS Exp/Gate In switch, or by clicking the Exp/Gate but-
ton on-screen.
Side-Chain Keying The Expander/Gate supports side-chain and
key listen. For details, see "Side-Chain Keys and Filters" on
page 122.
Expander/Gate Gain Reduction Meters
Three-segment gain reduction meters for the built-in Ex-
pander/Gate are located in each input fader strip. These pro-
vide constant display of gain reduction on all currently
banked Input Channels.
10-segment gain reduction meters are provided in the ACS for
higher resolution metering of the Expander/Gate on the cur-
rently selected channel.
See Chapter 13, "Metering."
