To start, update, or restore system using the System
Restore CD:
Make sure outputs, speakers, and power amps are muted.

Insert the System Restore CD into the D-Show CD-ROM

drive on the FOH Rack.
Press the two Reset switches on the front of the FOH Rack si-

multaneously to restart the system, then press and hold F10
on the keyboard until Restore CD text screen appears.
Some models of USB keyboards require repeated pressing of
F10 (holding it down in between pressings) to register.
Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to select the CD drive (it

should be the last choice, with the line starting with "4M-")
choice and press Enter. This launches using the software on
the inserted System Restore CD.
Do one of the following to update or restore D-Show soft-

ware:
• To update or re-install D-Show software, press U. Follow
the on-screen instructions to begin installation. The in-
staller begins replacing D-Show software on the CPU of
the FOH Rack.
– or –
• To do a full system restore (complete remove and re-
place), press R. (Or press P to return to the previous
screen.) A warning dialog appears on-screen asking you
to confirm. Press Shift+R (uppercase R) to begin, then fol-
low on-screen instructions to complete the system re-
store operation.
When finished updating or restoring, the system restarts.
Select an option in the Ready to Resume dialog as appropri-

ate (see "Resuming Normal Operation" on page 196).
Follow any additional instructions on-screen for plug-ins or

authorizations.
Remove the D-Show System Restore CD from the FOH Rack

CD-ROM drive.
Re-install any plug-ins.

To cancel without changing any installed software:
Press E to exit from the Welcome to D-Show System Restore
screen. D-Show resumes starting up using the currently in-
stalled version on the FOH Rack CPU.
If you cancel a full system restore or an update, you may ex-
perience installation errors about unavailable space. If this
occurs, repeat the system restore process, making sure to
complete it in one pass.
Updating Firmware
During an update or system restore, D-Show checks for new
firmware. If newer firmware is found on the System Restore
CD, it is installed while D-Show starts up.
Reinstalling Plug-Ins After Restoring the
System
The System Restore CD reinstalls all D-Show system software
only. DigiRack Plug-ins and any additional plug-ins from
Digidesign or its Development Partners must be re-installed
separately.
For instructions on re-installing plug-ins, see Chapter 19,
"Plug-Ins."

Main Unit and Sidecar System LEDs

Each Main and Sidecar unit includes the two Power and
Com Link LEDs, located just below the Bus ID selector at the
upper left of each unit.
