1. SMART COMMUNICATION UNIT
1.1 Genera
l
Described in this manual are the operating instructions to use the application software LinkTop of the
Smart Communication Unit which operates in the Microsoft operating system Windows environment.
LinkTop is a communication terminal designed for use in combination with a personal computer
(hereinafter referred to as PC) and any one of the OVAL Electromagnetic flowmeters to set up, alter,
adjust, or read out parameters and variables, through interactive communications, either on-site or from
remote locations. Using a Windows PC at hand, you can monitor multiple windows on its screen.
It is necessary to install the application software LinkTop in your personal computer before connecting
the communication interface (*) between the PC and the flowmeter.
NOTE

：The customer is requested to prepare the communication interface.
Communication style and communication interface differ with the communication
specification of the flowmeter. The communication specification for standard flowmeter
product is RS485. The flowmeter with Bell202 communication specification is supported
specifically.
- RS485 communication specification: RS485 communication specification is required.
- Bell202 communication specification: Bell202 communication interface for OVAL Smart
Communication Unit EL2310 is required.
2. BEFORE YOU BEGIN
2.1 Inspection upon Receipt
Be sure you have the following items.

NOTE: For the installation of the application software "LinkTop" and the interface driver software (※),
refer to "Installation Procedure Manual".
※ ：The driver software in the CD-ROM is intended for an application of Bell202
Communication Interface for OVAL Smart Communication Unit EL2310. It is not necessary
to install this software when using RS485 communication.
