10.1 Troubleshooting
Solutions to frequently encountered problems and errors are described below.
<Reference>
● Check the wiring.
● Check the voltage and capacity of the power supply.
● When the HG-T controller manufactured prior to January 2019 is used, some functions will be
restricted. For details, consult your Panasonic representative.

Cause
Power is not supplied.
The controller is not connected correctly. Check the controller connections.
Eco mode is ON.
Laser emission stop input is ON. Set laser emission stop input to OFF.
The measured object is not
within the measurement range.
Obstacles exist within the mea-
surement range.
The hold function is ON.
The sensor head is not installed
correctly.
Operation Mode is not set cor-
rectly.
The specified direction of mea-
surement is opposite to the
direction in which the measured
object is inserted.
The reference waveform is not
registered correctly.
The average count is set to a small
value (response time is fast).
Dust, dirt, or other foreign mat-
ters adhere to the light emitting
and receiving surfaces of the
sensor head.
Dust, dirt, or other foreign mat-
ters adhere to the measured
object.
The receiver of the sensor head
is receiving ambient light from
surrounding photoelectric sen-
sors, inverters, or other devices.
Dust, grit, or other substances
are flying in the operating envi-
ronment.
The sensor head is installed in a
location subject to severe vibration.
Mutual interference is occurring. Set the interference prevention function to ON.
T h e d i s t a n c e b e t w e e n t h e
installed emitter and receiver
exceeds the specified range.
The distance between the sen-
sor head receiver and the mea-
sured object is too far.
The serial number of the emitter
differs from that of the receiver.
Solution
Check if the capacity of the power supply is sufficient.
Connect the power supply correctly.
Set Eco mode to OFF.
Check if the measured object is within the mea-
surement range.
Remove the obstacles.
Check the settings of the hold function.
Install the emitter and receiver correctly.
Check the settings of the operation Mode.
Change the specified direction of measurement
to TOP or BOTTOM.
After adjusting the beam axis, register the refer-
ence waveform.
Set the average count to a large value (response
time is slow).
To remove any dirt that adheres to the light
emitting and light receiving surfaces of the sen-
sor head, use compressed air or gently wipe off
using a clean, soft cloth. If the surfaces are very
dirty, wipe off dirt using a cotton swab (or similar
material) moistened with absolute alcohol.
Remove any dust, dirt, or other foreign matters
that adhere to the measured object.
Mount a shielding plate to prevent ambient light
from hitting the receiver of the sensor head.
Mount a shielding plate at a certain angle to the
sensor head.
Use a dust collector or similar device to remove
and prevent dust, grit, and other substances
from flying in the operating environment.
Take measures against vibration.
Ensure that the distance between the installed
emitter and receiver is within the specified
range.
Make the distance between the installed emitter
and receiver as short as possible.
Use a pair of emitter and receiver with the same
serial number.
