A wired LAN administrator station has access to all Access Points RLMs via
a wired backbone. The Access Points RLMs are identified by means of their
unique IP address.
When your LAN architecture is comprised of multiple subnets, separated by
gateways or routers, please note that the LAN administrator station which
you intend to use for the initial configuration, must be on the same subnet
as the Access Points RLMs.
Once the Access Points RLMs have been configured and their IP addresses
have been registered, you can use any station to access the Access Points
RLMs via the TCP/IP protocol.
For more information on configuring your Access Point RLM, please refer to
"Configuration Scenarios" (page
47).
When you use a wired LAN administrator station you will not be able to
move around to different physical locations of the network to determine or
optimize the placement of stations or Access Points RLMs.
However, a wired LAN administrator station can use the RLM Manager
remote link test and remote statistics features to do monitoring tasks.
With the RLM Manager you can validate radio frequency links between a
remote Radio Link Module (RLM) and wireless stations connected to that
Radio Link Module (RLM). For more information on monitoring, refer to
"Monitoring Options" (page
98).
