Charging the battery

Warning
Have the battery removed at a Ducati Dealer or
authorised Service Centre.
To reach the battery, refer to "Removing the battery"
page 258.
Warning
The battery gives off explosive gases; never
cause sparks or allow naked flames and cigarettes
near the battery. When charging the battery, ensure
that the working area is properly ventilated.
Charge the battery in a ventilated room.
Connect the battery charger leads to the battery
terminals: the red one to the positive terminal (+), the
black one to the negative terminal (-).
Smear positive pole (+) and negative pole (-) screws
with grease.

Make sure the charger is OFF when you connect
the battery to it, or you might get sparks at the battery
terminals that could ignite the gases inside the cells.
Always connect the red positive (+) terminal first.
Charge the battery at 0.9 A for 5÷10 hours.
Install the battery on the vehicle as described under
"Refitting the battery" page 259.
