Drive Axle

PLANETARY GEAR AND BRAKE ASSEMBLY

Remove

1: Raise the rear of the vehicle and support with jack stands.
2: Remove the wheels. Refer to procedure in "Tires and Wheels"
section.
3: Drain the oil from the brake and gear chambers.
4: Remove the gear box. Be careful not to damage the alignment
pins. The alignment pins should come off with the gear box.
If any pins remain in the transaxle housing, remove them and
reinstall in the gear box flange.

Install

1: Thoroughly clean the sealing surfaces of the transaxle housing
and gear box.
2: Apply a bead of 94-430-05 gasket sealer on the sealing surface
and install the gear box onto the transaxle.
3: Cross tighten the mounting bolts until the gear box is seated. Final torque is listed in the Hardware Torque
table at the end of this section.
4: Fill the brake and gear chamber with oil. Refer to Change Oil section for information.
5: Lower the vehicle.
6: Reconnect the battery, remove the blocks from behind the wheels and test drive the vehicle.
