Inspection

• Thoroughly clean all components.
• All seals that were removed should be replaced
with new seals.
• All bearings that required a press or hammer to be
removed should be replaced with new bearings.
• After cleaning, lubricate bearings with light oil and
spin by hand. If the bearing does not spin free
or if there is any roughness or grinding then the
bearing should be replaced.
• Inspect all gears for damage.
Note: If any one gear is damaged, it is likely that
all gears and bearings have been damaged.

Assemble

• Pre lube all bearings and seals with gear oil.
• Reassemble the gear box in reverse order of
disassembly.
• Heat the helix gear to maximum of 100ºC to 120ºC
(212ºF to 248ºF) to assist in pressing the helix
gear to the sun gear.
• Heat the wheel hub bearing to maximum of 100ºC
to 120ºC (212ºF to 248ºF) to assist in pressing the
bearing to the wheel hub.
• Make sure the ring gear is properly centered on
the alignment pins and cross tighten the ring gear
bolts per torque listed in the Hardware Torque
table at the end of this section.

• Heat the planet gear carrier to 120ºC (248ºF)
and press into the wheel hub spline. Using tool
#95-500-45, tighten the Ring Nut per torque listed
in the Hardware Torque table at the end of this
section.
• Stake the nut by
bending the nut outer
flange into the three
dimples in the Planet
Carrier.
• Make sure the contact surfaces of the housing and
flange are clean and apply a bead of 94-430-05
gasket sealer. Seat the flange into the housing
with a rubber hammer. Tighten the four mounting
screws per torque listed in the Hardware Torque
table at the end of this section.
• Refer to the Brake Section for information on
reassembling the brake components.
