Connecting the RMC-1
7. Standby Button
Press this to switch the RMC-1 from Standby to On; press it again to return the RMC-1 to Standby
mode. (The rear panel AC Power switch must be On.) The halo ring around the Standby button
illuminates amber for Standby and blue for On.
Note:
In its default configuration (Standby = Lowest Power), when the RMC-1 is powered on using
the rear panel Power switch, the halo ring around the Standby button will immediately flash
between amber and blue several times, then illuminate steady amber. Pressing the Standby
button on the front panel, or the Standby button on the remote control, will then initiate
the boot-up process. The Emotiva name will appear in one display, the halo ring around the
Standby button will illuminate blue, the halo ring around the Encoder knob will pulsate blue,
and a progress bar will move across the bottom of the display to indicate that the RMC-1
is booting up; the boot-up process will take about two minutes. When the boot-up process
is complete, the halo ring around the Encoder knob and the halo ring around the Standby
button will illuminate steady blue, and both displays will become active, displaying the status
information they were configured to display in the Setup Menu. Pressing the front panel
Standby button, or the Standby button on the remote control while the RMC-1 is On, will return
the RMC-1 to Standby mode; in Standby Mode, only the halo ring around the front panel
Standby button will remain illuminated amber.
In the High-Power Standby mode (Standby = Video Remains On), when the RMC-1 is
powered on using the rear panel Power switch, the halo ring around the Standby button will
immediately flash blue several times, then illuminate steady blue. The Emotiva name will
appear in one display, the halo ring around the Encoder knob will pulsate blue, and a progress
bar will move across the bottom of the display to indicate that the RMC-1 is booting up; the
boot-up process will take about two minutes. Once the boot-up process is complete, the
RMC-1 will return to Standby mode; with only the halo ring around the front panel Standby
button illuminated amber. At this point, pressing the front panel Standby button, or the ON
button on the remote control, will switch the RMC-1 fully On, the halo ring around the Encoder
knob and the halo ring around the Standby button will illuminate steady blue, and both
displays will become active, displaying the status information they were configured to display
in the Setup Menu. Pressing the front panel Standby button or the Standby button on the
remote control when the RMC-1 is On will then return it to Standby mode.
Note:
The Setup Menu, the Front Panel controls, and the remote control, can all be locked out from
inside the Setup | Advanced Menu. You may wish to lock the Front Panel controls if you never
use them, and you may wish to lock the Front Panel controls or the Setup Menu to avoid
unauthorized or unintentional operation or changes to the RMC-1's configuration.
If you become locked out of your RMC-1, you can override one or both of these locks by
PRESSING THE STANDBY BUTTON ON THE FRONT PANEL WHILE CONTINUING TO PRESS THE
CONTROLLER KNOB. If you do this, you will be granted temporary access to the Setup Menu,
where you can then access the Setup | Advanced Menu and disable one or more of the locks.
