The RMC-1 Menu System
Note: The Level Trims, Bass and Treble Trims, and Lip Synch Delay Trim in the Main Zone Menu
are independent of those in the Setup Menu and changes configured in the trims operate IN
ADDITION TO the levels and settings configured in the Setup Menu.
Lip Synch Delay Trim
The Lip Synch Delay Trim adjusts the lip synch delay from 0 mSec to 200 mSec in 1 mSec steps.
Loudness
The Loudness check box allows you to enable or disable true Fletcher Munson loudness
compensation. Loudness compensation adjusts the audio frequency response to compensate
for the varying frequency response of human hearing at low volume levels. Our hearing is
increasingly less sensitive to very high and very low frequencies as the listening level is reduced,
and the Fletcher Munson loudness curve compensates for this by applying a boost to those
frequencies that increases as the level is reduced.
Dolby Loudness Management
Enables Dolby Loudness Management and selects which DLM mode to use. When enabled, Dolby
Loudness Management attempts to control the dynamic range of incoming audio. Dynamic
Range Control (DRC) reduces the dynamic range (the loudness difference between loud and
quiet sounds) to make it easier to hear quiet sounds when the overall volume level is low; this
is sometimes referred to as "midnight mode". Dialog Normalization seeks to make the dialog in
various program material play at a similar level to improve intelligibility.
Note: This option is only available for content encoded in Dolby (not DTS or analog). The exact
effect produced by the various settings is determined by information encoded into the source
material.
Note: Because DLM only works with Dolby encoded content, it will only function if your source
or Blu-Ray player is sending the full digital bit stream, encoded in a Dolby digital format, to
the RMC-1 for decoding (if your source is converting the bit stream to PCM, or is in some other
format, then DLM will have no effect).
All Off disables both Dynamic Range Control and Dialog Normalization; DRC Off disables
Dynamic Range Control but enables Dialog Normalization; Auto enables DRC (when the flag
in the content requests it) and enables Dialog Normalization; On enables both DRC and Dialog
Normalization.
Input
The Input control is used to select which input on the RMC-1 to listen to or view. Inputs may also
be assigned to individual Input Select buttons in the Setup Menu.
