Importing and Exporting Parametric EQ Filters
The Parametric EQ filter settings for the two manual speaker presets on the RMC-1 can be
exported to and imported from a USB stick in the form of a set of XML files. These XML files may
be used as a means of archiving your current filter settings, and as a way of exchanging these
settings with third party applications that "understand" them (such as Room EQ Wizard). They will
also enable the tech-savvy user to manually edit filter settings, and to copy filter settings from one
channel or Speaker Preset to another.
Please read and consider the following information carefully before using this feature:
This feature is only available for the two manual Speaker Presets (not the Dirac Preset).
To export a set of filters, use the following command:
Setup | Speakers | (Speaker Preset) | Equalization | Export Filters
To import a set of filters, use the following command:
Setup | Speakers | (Speaker Preset) | Equalization | Import Filters
Filter settings may only be exported to and imported from a USB thumb drive.
The files containing the filter settings are standard XML files, which may be read and edited
using any standard XML or text editor, but the file locations and names, and the format of the
information they contain, must follow the RMC-1's default format exactly. (The easiest way to
see this format is to export a set of filters and examine the files the RMC-1 provides.)
When the RMC-1 is instructed to Export Filters, it always saves a complete set of filters -
based on the current speaker configuration for the Speaker Preset you are currently in. The
names of the individual files are based on the channel they represent (the files have a .EMO
file extension), the name of the overall folder is based on the name of the current Speaker
Preset, AND THIS INFORMATION IS ALSO CONTAINED INSIDE EACH FILE IN THE FORM OF XML
INFORMATION.
When the RMC-1 is instructed to Import Filters, it will read all filter files present in the
appropriate folder, and replace the settings in the RMC-1 with those contained in the files.
Files that are missing will be ignored. (So, if you only have files for your Front Left and Front
Right channels in the folder, either because you deleted the others, or because you only
instructed REW to save files for those channels, settings for those two channels will be read
into the RMC-1, and settings for the other channels will remain unchanged.
If you manually enter parameter values into the files, or values are entered by a third-party
program, and those values aren't a precise match for what the RMC-1 expects (perhaps the
RMC-1 stores band gain in 0.5 dB steps and you enter a value of +3.279 instead of +3.5), the
RMC-1 will do its best to use the nearest value it supports. However, entering values that are
out of bounds or "between steps" may produce unexpected results.
