Here's a simple example that illustrates how this feature works:
We'll use this feature to copy the PEQ settings for the Front Left speaker in Speaker Preset 2 into
the Front Right speaker channel in the same Speaker Preset.
First we'll go into the Setup Menu (on the RMC-1) and we'll Export Filters from
Speaker Preset 2.
This will give us a set of files, one for each speaker channel, in a folder on our USB stick
named "filtersPreset2".
For our example, we will delete all of these files except the one named "leftFront.EMO", which
is the file that contains the current settings for our Left Front speaker in this preset.
We will now rename this file to "rightFront.EMO".
We will also use our favorite text or XML editor to change the information inside the file to
match the new name. (We'll change the XML information near the top of the file from
speaker location="leftFront" to speaker location="rightFront").
Now we'll go into the Setup Menu (on the RMC-1) and we'll Import Filters to
Speaker Preset 2.
When we do this, our new (modified) file containing settings for the Front Right speaker in
Preset 2 will be imported, and the settings in the file will replace the current settings on the
RMC-1 for that channel in that preset.
Note: Each XML file internally contains information that identifies which channel it goes with,
but does NOT contain the name of the associated Speaker Preset internally. This means that
you CAN, for example, copy ALL your settings from Preset 1 to Preset 2 by Exporting Filters
for Preset 1 and then simply renaming the FOLDER containing the files from filtersPreset1 to
filtersPreset2.
Exporting EQ Settings from Room EQ Wizard (to the RMC-1)
The latest version of Room EQ Wizard now includes the ability to export correction filters in
a format which can then be imported directly into the RMC-1. REW handles each channel
individually, so you must save the information for each channel separately and then combine
the files into an appropriately named folder on a USB stick. You will then use the Import Filters
command on your RMC-1 to import your saved filter files into the RMC-1.
In REW, in the EQ panel (or in Preferences), set your Equaliser to "RMC-1".
For each correction filter you wish to save, do the following:
In REW, in the EQ panel, under Filter Tasks, click Send Filter Settings to Equaliser.
In the pull-down box, select the speaker channel on the RMC-1 with which to associate the
exported settings for the current filter.
The current settings will then be saved in the folder you select, in the correct format, and with
the correct file name, ready for import into the RMC-1.
