Software Management

Software uploading process would take a few minutes. While software is being uploaded, the switch will remain unavailable

Reason Switches allows performing software (firmware running on the equipment)
management. This chapter provides information about the Upload and Image Select
menu.
Reason Switches operates with two stored software in its memory. One of them is
the active image and the other one is the alternate image.
Active firmware is the firmware running at switch's operation, and alternate firmware
is an image stored at switch's memory that remains non-used until it is selected to
be the active image. It is possible to upload the actual software version and select
the active image. Allowed configuration is as follows.

Upload:
Software Upload menu is located at Maintenance Software Upload.
In this menu, there are shown buttons to select where is located the file which is the
firmware that is required to be installed at the switch and upload it. Allowed buttons
are as follows:
Select File: when clicked, a window will open, allowing selecting

firmware file path. Select path and file (which will be a .dat file) at
the window;
Upload: after a valid file is selected, this button will execute the

software upload function. It will take a few minutes to perform all
installing process, and at this time switch will not be available.

Image Select
Software Upload menu is located at Maintenance Software Image Select.
In this menu, there are shown buttons that allow enabling alternate software image
and cancel web page. If alternate image is active, automatically actual active image
will become the alternate software. Thus, it is running actually two firmware versions
inside the switch, which can be exchanged as needed.
