9.3.10 VCM

This type of card is used to add voice compression channels to an IP500 and IP500 V2 control unit. Those channels are
used for VoIP calls including IP extensions and or IP trunks.
The IP500 VCM card is available in two variants; 32 channels and 64 channels. Both cards have 4 RJ45 ports for that are
used for connections when an
IP500 control units support up to 128 voice compression channels, using IP500 VCM cards and/or
an
IP500 carrier card
. The IP500 V2 control unit supports up to 148 voice compression channels, using the same cards

IP500 Combination Cards
· Supports
Codecs G.711, G729a and G.723 with 64ms echo cancellation. The
maximum number of simultaneous channels useable on an IP500
VCM base card is affected by the codec being used. The following
table assumes that all calls using the VCM use the same codec.

· G.722 is supported by IP Office Release 8.0 and higher in
systems with an IP500 VCM card or an IP500 Combination card.
It is not supported if the system contains any IP400 VCM cards.
