Inside Ring Engraving
At this time, make sure the ring is NOT directly below the diamond drag ring adapter tool. If it is, use the
adjustment wheel on the right side of the rotary vise to move the ring to the left of the tool tip. If the ring
has a decorated area, use the Y Move keys on the Pendant to rotate the ring to that the decoration is to
the side of the tool tip (move the decoration to the 3 or 9 O'clock positions). Lower the spindle with the Z
Move keys on the Pendant to make sure there is approximately 0.1 inches between the tool and the ring
(or locating pins, depending on which ones stick out to the left further). If the tool tip cannot be lowered
and clear the ring or locating pins, move the rotary vise using the wheel on the left side of the vise to
position the ring, or locating pins, approximately 0.1 inches away from the tool tip. Lock the rotary vise
with the locking screws at this time.
Lower the spindle further with the Z Move keys so that the Z Position on the Pendant indicates 2.50
inches (+/- 0.010 inches). Using the X Move keys, move the spindle to the left until the diamond drag
tool is near the outside edge of the ring. Adjust the height of the tool by raising or lowering the tool
manually - loosen the hold down screw and adjust the tool height so that the tool will fit inside the ring,
then tighten the hold down screw. Move the tool tip with the X Move keys to position the tip in the center
of the ring. Once the tool tip is inside the ring, adjust the height of the tool manually to produce a gap
approximately 1/16 inch between the tool tip and the bottom of the inside of the ring.
Now, move the tool to the right using the X Move keys and raise the spindle using the Z Move key until
the tool tip is just above the top of the ring. Move the tool tip back to the left using the X Move keys until
the tool tip is centered over the middle of the ring. Write down the Y Position indicated on the Pendant
display. Press Go To Home to move the spindle back to the Home Position.
