Capacitors
The drive intermediate circuit employs several electrolytic capacitors. Their lifespan
depends on the operating time of the drive, loading and ambient temperature. Capacitor
life can be prolonged by lowering the ambient temperature.
Capacitor failure is usually followed by damage to the unit and an input cable fuse failure,
or a fault trip. Contact ABB if capacitor failure is suspected. Replacements are available
from ABB. Do not use other than ABB specified spare parts.
Reforming the capacitors
The capacitors must be reformed if the drive has been stored for a year or more. See page
48
