The replication number indicates the number of nodes to replicate (i.e. create a copy) across. For a two-node
cluster, the replication number can be 2 (recommended), or 1. For a three-node cluster, up to 3 replicas are
allowed. The maximum is 3 for a cluster of three or more nodes.
If you are configuring a single machine (i.e. no cluster), you must set the replication number to 1.
