Multi-tenancy

tenancy
Multi-tenancy architecture enables a single instance of a software application to be used by multiple customers,
or tenants. Is also ensures that the data of each tenant is isolated and remains invisible to other tenants.
To use multi-tenancy on the VSky A Series with VMware vCenter and ESXi, the administrator needs to create a
virtual storage from a shared pool, for each tenant, and provide each tenant with a self-service portal. In addition
to a VSky A Series server or server cluster, at least one server must be running VMware ESXi hypervisor and
vCenter centralized management tool.
If too many virtual gateways are created on the ESXi server, there can be performance problems. It might be
necessary to add ESXi servers if this limitation is reached.
The procedures to Prepare the environment, create gateway profiles and create gateway virtual machines are
described in the section.
Before starting, create at least two virtual NICs (one Public, one Cluster) for the VSky server where
you are installing ESXi. To do this, go to Configuration, click Networking, and Add networking.
Upload VSky ISO file to datastore on the ESXi server.

Prepare the necessary environment

1. First install ESXi on a server. In this example, ESXi
version 5.5 is installed on a VSky A1100 (IP address,
10.0.0.9).
2. Create at least two virtual NICs (one Public, one Cluster)
for the VSky server where you are installing ESXi. To do
this, go to Configuration, click Networking, and Add
networking. See E on page 100.
3. Upload VSky ISO file to datastore on the ESXi server.
See H on page 101.
4. Connect to ESXi server using a Vmware vSphere client.
