The basic hardware setup tasks for the VSky A1100 and Vess R2600fiS described in the guide are as follows:
1. Unpacking the VSky A1100 1U Server
2. Installing the VSky A1100 in a rack
3. Monitor and keyboard connection for initial management tasks
4. Network and backend storage connections
5. Connect the power
6. Power on VSky A1100

Hardware required for a two node cluster

4 x Cat 6 Ethernet cable for connection to 1G management network
One cable for each node and one for each Vess subsystem.
1 x Gigabit Ethernet switch used for 1G management network
4 x Fibre Channel cables (LC/PC to LC/PC Multimode) for uplink from Vess R2600fiS
Two FC cables for each Vess-to-VSky uplink.
4 x 8G Fibre Channel transceivers (2 for each device)
Please check PROMISE website for list of approved transceivers
8 x Fiber Optic cables (LC/PC to LC/PC Multimode) for 10G connections to the Public network and
Cluster (private) network.
8 x SFP+ 10G Ethernet optic transceivers for VSky A1100
Please check PROMISE website for list of approved transceivers
2 x SFP+ switches equipped with 4 SFP+ 10G Ethernet optic transceivers. One switch for external public
network, used for client applications; and one switch for internal Cluster (private) network used to sync
cluster node.
Note that if only one server is being set up, then this second switch and associated cabling are not
needed since there is no server cluster.
Cabling for client applications network.
