2. If the compute node is installed in an Flex System chassis, remove it (see "Removing a compute node
from a chassis" on page 639 for instructions).
3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with
the bezel pointing toward you.
To remove the USB flash drive, complete the following

Step 1.
Remove the cover (see "Removing the compute node cover" on page 643).
Step 2.
Locate the USB connector on the system board (see "System-board connectors" on page 17).
Step 3.
Pull the USB flash drive out of the connector.
If you are instructed to return the USB flash drive, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging
materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

Installing the USB flash drive

Use this information to install the USB flash drive.
Before you install the USB flash drive, complete the following steps:
1. Read "Safety" on page iii and "Installation guidelines" on page 637.
2. If the compute node is installed in an Flex System chassis, remove it (see "Removing a compute node
from a chassis" on page 639 for instructions).
3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with
the bezel pointing toward you.
This component can be installed as an optional device or as a CRU. The installation procedure is the same
for the optional device and the CRU.
To install the USB flash drive, complete the following

Remove the cover (see "Removing the compute node cover" on page 643).
Step 2.
Locate the USB connector on the system-board (see "System-board connectors" on page 17).
Step 3.
Push the USB flash drive into the connector.
