What is Colour Management?
While in the displays such as monitor, colours are expressed with "additive primary colours" (RGB: red, green, and blue), in the printers with
ink, colours are expressed with "subtractive primaries" (CMY: cyan, magenta, and yellow). Since the number of colours that can be expressed
with CMY is smaller than with RGB, colours on the monitor cannot be printed quite the same. For natural reproduction of colour tones, some
conversion technique from RGB to CMY is required. This system of conversion is called colour management. The rules of conversion vary with
the manufacturer, and each manufacturer uses its original conversion table (colour profile).
In colour management of HC5500, some kinds of colour profiles are automatically selected according to the combination of the original image
and the paper type to be used to express the optimum colours.
