Additional Information

The following sections contain procedures that may not be necessary in all
installations.

Replacing Internal Components

Hard Disk

Each of the BCM Platforms are fitted with a 40 GB Maxtor SATA hard disk.
SATA: Serial ATA – A newer type of hard disk controller allowing faster data
transfer than EIDE controllers. The SATA cable from motherboard to hard
drive is significantly narrower than the IDE cables
Required Equipment
Before commencing hard disk maintenance functions, you will require the
following equipment:
 Anti-static wrist-strap.
 Phillips #2 screwdriver.
You should also prepare the BCM for the maintenance procedure to take
place.
1. Check for a recent backup of the BCM50 programming. If there is no
recent backup, use Element Manager to back up all of the system data.
2. Use Element Manager to shut down the BCM50 system.
3. Shut down the BCM50.
4. Disconnect all cables.
