Chapter 1 Overview

1.1 RX600 S4

This server is an entry-level server with high-speed processing and cost-
effectiveness, having the following features.
High reliability
Advanced memory protection functions
This server supports Single Device Data Correction (SDDC) function with fully-buffered memory. For
the entire memory, you can also set the memory sparing function or memory mirroring function; both
are supported to enable data restoration when a memory error occurs.
Disk array configuration
As a standard feature, a SAS array controller card (MegaRAID SAS) is installed in the server to
configure an array system. With the array configuration, you can continue the operation without
stopping the system even when a hard disk unit fails. (It is, however, required to replace the failed hard
disk unit as soon as possible.)
Redundant function
The memory, internal hard disk units, power supply units, and system fans support the redundant
function.
Even when an error occurs in a power supply unit or a system fan, you can replace it without stopping
the system.
With configured disk array systems, you can replace and restore hard disk units without turning off the
server and peripheral devices when the hard disk in the server is failed (hot-pluggable, except of RAID
0).
Hardware and software designed for data security
This server is designed to provide provisions for data securities to guard the hardware and data assets
with systems, such as a lock for the rack door and a password for BIOS Setup Utility.
Proactive fan function
Stable system operation is performed with automatically increasing the rotating speed of the system fan
to control temperature in the server as a fan fails or the ambient temperature rises.
Hot-pluggable PCI slots
The PCI slot 1 through 4 are hot-pluggable PCI slots. If an expansion card is damaged, you can replace
the card without turning off the server and its peripheral devices (only available for Windows Server
2003).
