Routine maintenance operations
CHECKING AND TOPPING UP THE
BRAKE FLUID
NOTE
This motorcycle is equipped with
front and rear disc brakes with separate hydraulic
systems.
The following information may refer to just one braking
system but should be observed with regard to both brakes.
WARNING
Sudden variations in the play or looseness of the
brake lever are caused by problems in the hydrau-
lic circuits.
Make sure the brake discs are not worn or greasy,
especially after servicing or checking the brakes.
Make sure that the brake lines are not twisted,
kinked or damage in any way.
Take care not to allow water or dust to get into the
circuit accidentally.
You are advised to wear rubber gloves when
servicing the hydraulic circuit.
Brake fluid can cause irritation if it comes into
contact with the skin or eyes.
Thoroughly wash any parts of the body that come
into contact with the fluid and contact an eye
specialist or doctor if the fluid comes into contact
with the eyes.
DO NOT DISPOSE OF BRAKE FLUID IN THE
ENVIRONMENT. KEEP BRAKE FLUID AWAY FROM
CHILDREN.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
CAUTION
Avoid splashing brake fluid on the plastic or
painted parts of the motorcycle, as it will cause
damage.
CAUTION
The brakes are the most important guarantee of
safety on the motorcycle, and must be kept in a
perfect state of efficiency at all times.
Change the brake fluid once a year.
Use the type of brake fluid specified in the lubri-
cant charts see (LUBRICANT CHART).
