CHECKING AND TOPPING UP
TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL
Carefully read page 79 (LUBRICANT
CHART), page 39 (MAINTENANCE) and
page 24 (LUBRICANTS).
NOTE
Position the vehicle on firm and
flat ground.
u Position the vehicle on the centre stand.
WARNING
The engine and the components of the
exhaust system become very hot and
remain hot for some time after the
engine has been stopped. Before
handling these components, wear
insulating gloves or wait until the
engine and the exhaust system have
cooled down.
Unscrew and extract the plug/dipstick
u
(1).

u Clean the part in contact with the oil with
a clean cloth.
Tighten the plug/dipstick (1) completely,
u
screwing it into the filling hole.
u Withdraw the plug/dipstick (1) again and
read the oil level on the dipstick itself:
MAX = maximum level;
MIN = minimum level.
u The level is correct if the oil reaches
approx. the "MAX" mark on the dipstick.
CAUTION
Never exceed the "MAX" mark or let oil
level drop below the "MIN" mark, as
this may lead to severe engine damage.
u If necessary, provide for topping up.

TOPPING UP
u Pour a small quantity of oil in the filling
hole and wait about one minute, so that
the oil flows into the oil pan.
u Check the oil level and top up if
necessary.
u Top up by adding small quantities of oil,
until reaching the prescribed level.
u At the end of the operation, screw and
tighten the plug-dipstick (1).
For top-ups and oil changes, use
s y n t h e t i c o i l S A E 7 5 / W - 9 0 t y p e
exceeding the API GL3 specification.
Always use new oil.
WARNING
Do not use the vehicle with insufficient
lubrication or with contaminated or
unsuitable lubricants, since this would
cause early wear of the moving parts and
may also cause irreparable failures.
